History

Fantasy Sports has exploded onto the world-wide stage in the last few years and has transformed the way people look at sports results.

The reasons are simple: Fantasy Sports are fun to play and bridge the divide between the spectator and the real event. The popularity they enjoy among sports fans means that a new door has been opened for exciting marketing and sponsorship opportunities.

Originating in New York in the early 80’s, the fantasy sports concept was designed around using baseball statistics to build a personal Dream Team. Dream League saw the potential to adapt the concept to other sports and to other countries; we were the first to introduce the idea to the UK and Europe in 1990 managing Britain’s first Fantasy Football game.

“For the new managers of Dream League teams like Real Madras, Standard Lamp and Ugly Dukla, 4.40pm on a Saturday will never be the same again.” Henry Winter, The Independent, Sat 8th June 1991

Since the heady days of Dream League auctions (when Bobby Robson was England manager), we have developed newspaper and online games for numerous different sports: from Cycling to Cricket and Horse Racing to Handball!

Our games have enjoyed huge success all around the world - projects have included a multi-channel fantasy cricket game for Indian TV with 1.5million online registrations, the inaugural fantasy V8 Supercars game in Australia and a major fantasy football initiative for a UK newspaper.

Dream League have worked with some of the world’s largest publishing (traditional and online) houses and many of the global brands involved in sports sponsorship. Dream League was the Official Fantasy Football game of EURO 96, WORLD CUP 98 and EURO 2000.

Dream League is owned by cleverTV Limited.
